Privacy and terms

Firstlook is made by NodeJ. Last updated October 19, 2026.

The short version

You can use Firstlook without an account. We don't sell your data, show ads, use tracking cookies or use third-party analytics. We only keep what we need to run the site.

What stays on your device

Your "What fits me" answers, the programs you save while signed out, and your light or dark setting are stored in your browser on this device. The list itself isn't sent to us, though we count each save (see usage counts below). Your browser also keeps a random ID that isn't linked to your name or email unless you sign in. Clearing your browser data removes all of these.

What we collect

• If you sign in: your email address, so we can send you a sign-in link and keep you signed in. Sign-in uses a cookie for that purpose only. The programs you save while signed in are stored with your account so they show on any device where you sign in, and programs saved on this device are added to it when you sign in.
• If you star goals: the programs you star (up to 5) and whether you asked us to tell you when one opens. They're stored with your account, and only you can see them. Email alerts aren't on yet. When they start at launch, tapping "Tell me when it opens" means we email your sign-in address once when roles are posted, never more than one email a day, and every email has a one-click unsubscribe.
• If you ask for reminders: deadline reminders are coming soon. When they start, we'll use your email only for the reminders you chose, and every reminder will have a way to stop them.
• If you share a program: the link, your note, and your email if you add one. We use them to check the program at the source and, if you like, to thank you.
• Usage counts: we record a few actions, like opening a program page, saving, tapping Apply, adding to your calendar and signing in, with that random ID, the program and the time, plus your account if you're signed in. We don't store your IP address with them. We use them only to see what helps undergrads and improve Firstlook.
• Basic server logs: like most websites, our host records things like IP address and browser type to keep the site running and secure.

Who helps us run Firstlook

Vercel hosts the site, Supabase stores sign-in accounts and shared programs, and Resend delivers our sign-in emails now, and will deliver alert emails once they start at launch. They process data only to provide those services to us.

Deleting your data

Email firstlook@nodej.ai from the address you used and we'll delete your account or anything you sent us, usually within a week.

Who Firstlook is for

Firstlook is for college students. It isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.

Terms of use

• Program details come from official sources, but they change. Always check eligibility and deadlines on the official program page before you apply.
• Firstlook links to programs run by other organizations. NodeJ isn't affiliated with them unless we say so, and we don't handle applications.
• Firstlook is free and provided as is. We may change or remove listings at any time.
• When you share a program, only send official links and don't include other people's personal information.
